HOME

We finally made it home, safe and sound after our wonderful adventures. Everett handled the final legs of our adventure like the champion that he is. We were shocked to find the most expensive hotel room out entire journey was in SASKATOON?!?!? We made it home around 2 o'clock today. Fortunately Darko is doing good, seems to have missed us, however appears to of been well taken care. Everett is down for the night, unfortunately he did cry for 10 minutes at bed time, I guess he misses sharing the bed with Mommy and Daddy :)

Winnipeg Part 2

The weather was rainy yesterday so it limited our plans, resulting in both the Zoo and the Forks being taken off our schedule. We ended up going to Polo park and just doing some more exploring. Unfortunately Everett has a little stomach bug :( After changing 5 poopy diapers in an hour we agreed and broke down and bought a package of disposables. It killed me to do it, however all his gro baby shells were getting yucky and need a good wash. Dylan was also feeling yucky yesterday with a migraine. However after some Tylenol 1's and a little sleep he is as good as new. Today we start our journey back home.

Winnipeg(its been a long time)

Well we made it back to Canada, and have arrived in Winnipeg. Its been a long time and it looks like things have changed a bit. The arena is no more, they have a really nice looking movie theatre now and it looks like the Charleswood golf course is now a highway. But the more impressive difference I noticed was that the Zellers that was by our old house is now a Shoppers Drug Mart. And I (Aly) noticed that Winnipeg has sqeegee kids ugh...It was nice to introduce Everett to some of his extended family. Hopefully we will have the chance to introduce him to more before the trip is done.

Fargo!

Well today we left Minneapolis, but before we left we made sure to visit Little Canada, where all the street signs have little maple leafs on them :) We also went to the outlet mall. Now Dylan and I have been to many Premium Outlets in our travels, but let me say this was by far the quietest outlet mall we have ever seen!! Dylan would like to say the longest....but I don't know about that, but we both agree having a major highway run through the mall probably isn't the smartest idea. We made it to Fargo, Dylan had previously been here and can remember it well.
Everett is doing SUPERFANTASTIC, adjusting to the Gerber baby food :) and is currently wrestling his new stuffed Yoda in the crib. I'm sure we can figure out who bought that for him. It was cute listening to Everett sit in his car seat talking to Yoda for a good 30 minutes this afternoon. Tomorrow should bring us to Winnipeg.

Minneapolis, Minnesota PART 3-The Final Chapter

Today, was our second anniversary, and we had a wonderful day out exploring Minnesota and all its wonderful baby stores. We struck out on finding any brightly colored organic cloth diapers, but did get a sprayer and a baby food processor at a really good price. We had a nice picnic and walk around Lake Calhoun, it has a lot of really nice older houses around it. We also saw the new home of the Twins, Target field that is set to open next year. Didn't get to see a game this time since they are playing in Toronto today but the new field gives us a reason to come back someday. The highlight of the day for me was that we got to go to the mall in Eden Praire were they filmed MallRats. It has changed a lot and been modernized a bit since filming but you still get the general sense of being there, in certain areas. We ended up having a nice dinner at Ruby Tuesday's in the Mall of America, and as always Everett made friends at all the other tables, with his smiles and laughs. Off to North Dakota tomorrow and Fargo, we will be sure to stay away from the wood chipper. Thats the news and I am out of here....

Minneapolis, Minnesota PART 2

So yesterday we spent some time exploring and of course visiting the mall. It's a very nice mall, however it is just a BIG mall, a lot of the same stores we have or normally visit when we are in the states. Of course there are a few exceptions. In general though it is just a mall. That being said that didn't stop me from purchasing new Steve Madden shoes, and Dylan from buying a new Star Wars pillow case. Everett was stunned by all the new sites he refused to nap yesterday...which made for a very long night :( Today we will continue to explore, hopefully go to Calahou park and maybe check out the Stadium.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Soooo after four days of driving and sightseeing we finally made it to Minneapolis. A lot of detours and traffic slowed down our arrival today, however we have made it safe and sound. We haven't done anything too exciting, just relaxing tonight. Everett needed a night where he was in bed at a reasonable time! We have a great little suite close to Mall of America. We will beginning tour Minneapolis first thing in the morning.

South Dakota

Today we spent sometime detouring off the highway a bit and did some tourist stuff. The main feature being hitting up the Mounuments of Mount Rushmore. A lot has changed since we were here last. It is much more modern with a long corridor of when the states were incorporated leading up to the same four faces that we remember. Everett seemed to enjoy the walk around and the highlight of the gift shop is when of all things we found a small swiss army knife key chain with Everett engraved on one side and Mount Rushmore on the other. We have never seen his name on anything and who'd have thought that the first time would be on a knife. We did a lot of driving today as well and should get to Minnesota tomorrow. Dylan and Everett went for a swim when we got checked into the hotel, their first swim of the trip but i'm sure it wont be their last, it's past their bedtime now so its off to bed till tomorrow's entry. Good night and Good Luck

Gillette, Wyoming

So we had a bit of a rocky start this morning. Everett had a bit of a rough night up every 2 to 3 hours, and spent most of the night in bed with me :( Sleep deprived mommy is not good for anyone!!! Fortunately we we're able to go to the Natural Baby Company in Bozeman. Not only was I able to purchase a new Gro Baby and a box of Tiny Bubbles, and some Kidishes but....I also got to see the brand new production samples of the new upcoming prints for the Gro Babies! These are brand new, like the Fedex guy delivered them while we were in the store. Then Kim, the creator of Gro Babies brought them out to show us! I get that to everyone else this might not be that exciting but to a cloth diapering mom who loves her Gro Babies this was super cool. We have been successfully using our Gro Babies the entire trip, with flushable g-diaper liners. Unfortunately the Biosoakers by Gro Baby weren't available for this trip, but we will be using them when we go away in October.
For anyone wondering if Everett is starving (ha, ha) I broke down today and bought him baby food.

Bozeman, Montana

That's right folks, Montana. This place is like its own strange world!!! So we were driving down a secondary highway when we come across a truck pulled over to the side. In the back he has two deers with collars chained to his truck....like they were his pets or something!!!! Crazy! And then further along on the journey this cowboy (I swear) is out taking his horse for a walk across the highway, wuth traffic going 100 km/h! Just out for a leisurely stroll!
Dylan was thrilled we were able to hit up both a Wal-Mart and a Target today. Unfortunately neither carry Everett's Hienz baby food...maybe its a Canadian thing? Target did however have tons of Paul Frank goodness. I was sooooo proud when Everett reached his hand out and grabbed a Paul Frank sweater off the rack, his size and everything. Everett may starve but at least he will be dressed nice :)
I'm already bored with driving so who knows how far our adventure will take us. Dylan hopes wherever we end up has a major sports team. I hope for it to be close.

Lethbridge

So we got a late start this morning. We didn't leave until noon!!! And of course we couln't leave town without one last trip to the theater. But eventually we did finally leave and we headed south. We decided to stop in Calgary to visit their new mall CrossIrons....which is a mall, nice but nothing to exciting! They are suppose to open a new theater there in 2010! Eventually we did find our way to Lethbridge somewhere neither Dylan or I have ever been, and that is where we will remain for the night. We aren't entirely sure on our destination....Minneapolis, Denver or somewhere all together different.
Unfortunately Everett slept most of the drive today so he is wide awake crawling around the hotel room, looking for cords to pull on :) We will post more soon and let you know where we end up!
